Mike’s love of theatre has led him on a continuing quest of foolhardy discovery ever since he discovered the secret of forward motion. As an actor, theatre practitioner, designer and writer his passion for performance and all things creative has led him to work with people young and old across worlds of both academia and practice.
As a founding member of Frontline Theatre, collaborating on original works in the style of the physical grotesque, Mike played a range of characters from It’s Only a Movie’s ‘lonely Mike’, who’s only friend is his mauve blanket to 68’s manipulative ‘Charlie’ and Boccaccio’s Last Supper’s vampiric ‘Steve’. Designing light, sound and stage, in addition to performance, Mike began to expand his ideas of a ‘total theatre’ practice that would lead into later work and a general philosophy of holistic creativity and thought.
After taking an MA in acting at Goldsmiths, he then played ‘Kittel’ and ‘Dr Paul’ in Joshua Sobol’s Ghetto before deciding to concentrate on his theatre research in conceptual, theatric space. Researching, lecturing and working with students for seven years across performance, design and theory, Mike then decided to shift once more and return again to his first love of performing.
Embarking on this latest adventure, Mike has worked in a typically eclectic fashion in both cabaret and experimental theatre whilst at the same time enjoying the freedom and creativity of being a voice over artist.
As a writer, Mike enjoys the challenge of working in the commercial and corporate field linking his passion for creativity and drama to that of the clients needs in a style that is hopefully both refreshing and interesting. He has recently wowed clients including MWI South, Hire Intelligence, Centaur Media and Sky South with his wit, wackiness and extensive knowledge of popular culture.
For Michael Sabbaton, creating a strong sense of interest, curiosity and passion in all things is what its all about and it is this that he hopes comes through in his work…
He also aspires to be a Timelord. |
